Step 01
Before you can sell insurance, you need your state life insurance license. Work through each of these four stages in order.
Start by completing your state-required pre-licensing course. Use the study material provided below to prepare for your state exam.
Open Pre-Licensing Study MaterialOnce enrolled in the pre-licensing course, complete your State Life Insurance license application online at www.nipr.com.
You will receive your NPN (National Producer Number) once you pass the state exam.
After registering with NIPR, you'll receive instructions to get your fingerprints taken at a location near you. Follow those instructions to complete your background check before scheduling your exam.
Once you've scored 90% on all quizzes and a passing score on the practice test on Exam FX, you're ready to take your state exam. To schedule:

Click "Agent Login" in the top-right corner of any page. Use the email and temporary password provided by your manager. You can reset your password at any time from the login page.
In the Agent Portal, go to Paper Applications. You'll find printable PDFs for Corebridge GI, MOO Living Promise NC, Royal Neighbors FE, American Amicable Senior Choice, and Transamerica FE Express.
Go to Electronic Applications in the portal. Each carrier has a direct link to their e-app portal. You'll need your agent login credentials for each carrier separately.

New agents typically start at the Agent level. Your exact commission rates by carrier are in the 2025 Comp Sheet — available in the portal Downloads tab or ask the AI assistant.
